Consultant Anaesthetist at Barts Health NHS Trust, London.

Dr Paul Howell is a Consultant Anaesthetist  who has worked at several of London’s main hospitals in both the NHS and independent sector.

He has over 30 years’ experience working as a consultant anaesthetist and has a specialist interest in obstetric anaesthesia and medico-legal matters, including providing expert opinions in medical negligence / malpractice cases relating to anaesthesia for the pregnant woman.

He has extensive experience of obstetric anaesthetic issues, and was seen as a national leader and opinion setter in the field, having been President of the Obstetric Anaesthetists’ Association (OAA) in 2008-2011.

He has been a well-known lecturer and teacher of obstetric anaesthesia and a frequent speaker at national and international meetings in both the developed and developing world. He was Chairman of the Obstetric Committee of the WFSA World Federation of Societies of Anaesthesiologists (2008-2016).

He was also a medical panellist for GMC Fitness to Practise procedures between 2006-2014.
